Blade Runner Synthetic Pleasures
Blade Runner and Synthetic Pleasures both explore the effects of technology on humanity. In Blade Runner a key question (often posited by Blade Runner novelist Phil Dick) is "What is it that really makes us human?" Synthetic Pleasures also asks this question from a non-fiction perspective. Ultimately both films show technology moving inside and outside of our humanity and creating realities ever more defined by human fictions. -- r.c.c.
