it seems to me that a large part of the measure of truth is aesthetic - beauty and truth inextricably linked.

continuing in a Nietzschean vein, it is amazing to see all the forms in which the "will to power" manifests itself.
in some, it expresses itself as a desire for truth, in others for beauty, in others for love, or for wisdom, or
for happiness, or for desire, or for release. only in some (Nietzsche might rather ungraciously call them the
"crude masses"), does it show as desire for actual power over others.
